Studafy Terms of Use
Last updated: 12 October 2026
Version: 1.2
These terms are an agreement between you and Studafy Limited ("we", "us"), a company registered in Ireland under number 822430, about your use of Studafy. How we handle personal data is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. By signing in you accept both.
1. What Studafy is
Studafy is a school application. Teachers run classes, share lessons, set and mark work — including work done on paper — and record attendance. Students see and hand in their work and keep their own notes. Parents follow their child's progress. Everyone can message the people in their classes.
This version of Studafy has three roles: teacher, student and parent or guardian. There is no school administrator. A class's work, marks and attendance are managed by that class's own teachers.
2. Accounts
- You sign in with Google, Microsoft or Apple. Keep that account secure; what is done with your Studafy account is your responsibility.
- You may add several accounts to one device and switch between them. Sign out of any account on a device you share.
- Child accounts. A parent or legal guardian may create a student account for a child who has no email or phone. By doing so, the parent confirms they are the child's parent or legal guardian, accepts these terms and the Privacy Policy on the child's behalf, and is responsible for how the account is used.
- A student may need a parent's approval to buy a subscription.
- A profile photo you add stays on your device; it is never uploaded.
- Give accurate information. Do not create an account for someone else except as a parent under this section, and do not impersonate anyone.
3. Using Studafy properly
You agree not to:
- use Studafy for anything other than learning, teaching and school communication;
- harass, bully, threaten or demean anyone, or share anything sexual, violent, hateful or unlawful;
- upload files you have no right to share, or that contain malware;
- try to see records you are not entitled to see — another student's marks or work, another class, another school — or to get around the app's limits;
- hand in another person's work, or work made by the AI tools, as your own;
- copy, scrape or resell the service or its content.
We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules, particularly where a child's safety is at risk. Anyone can report a message or a person, or block someone, from inside the app.
4. For teachers
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the marks and attendance you record. Marks you enter are drafts, visible only to your class's teachers, until you publish them. Publishing tells the students and their linked parents.
- Corrections are recorded, not erased. To change a published mark you must give a reason. The previous mark, the new one, who changed it, when and why are kept, and the family is told if the mark itself changed. Give honest reasons: they form part of the student's record.
- Attendance. You can change marks freely on the lesson's day. After that, changing a mark needs a reason. Seven days after the lesson the register locks; only the class's lead teacher can then change it, with a reason. Every change is kept.
- Deadlines. Due times are set in your school's time zone. You may give a student more time, or reopen work for the class, and should record why.
- Lessons and material. You may edit a lesson or replace its file, and change the files on set work. Files you replace or remove are kept for the school; the class no longer sees them.
- Share only material you have the right to share, and nothing about a student with anyone who has no need to know it.
5. For students
- Hand in your own work. You can replace your work until the deadline shown, which is in your school's time zone. Your earlier hand-ins are kept, and your teacher can see them.
- After the deadline you cannot hand in unless your teacher gives you more time. Once your teacher has published a mark for a piece of work, you cannot replace it unless your teacher lets you.
- If you think a mark or an attendance record is wrong, ask your teacher.
6. For parents and guardians
- You can link to your child only with your child's approval, unless you created your child's account.
- A linked parent can see their child's published marks, attendance, set work and hand-ins, and class material shared with families, and can download the files in them. You can hand work in for a young child who has no device of their own; the teacher will see that a parent handed it in.
- You cannot change your child's marks or attendance, and you are not given your child's private messages.
- Family+ is an optional paid plan that you hold yourself. One plan covers up to 4 of your linked children and a larger plan up to 8, in the order you linked them. It summarises what you can already see about each child it covers, compares a child only with their own earlier record, and does not predict or diagnose anything.
7. Your content
You keep the rights you have in what you upload and write — work, notes, photos, voice notes and messages. You give us permission to store, copy, process and show it only as needed to run Studafy for you and your school, as the Privacy Policy describes. Work handed in to a class, marks, attendance and files a teacher shares become part of the school's records and may be kept by the school after your account is deleted.
8. The AI study tools
The study helper, whiteboard-to-notes, lesson summaries and study notebooks, and quizzes and flashcards use an AI provider outside Studafy. The Privacy Policy says exactly what is sent to it.
- These tools are optional, and are available only where we have switched them on.
- What they produce can be wrong. Check it before relying on it, and never hand it in as your own work.
- AI never marks work in Studafy.
- Each plan has an allowance. We may change the allowances, or pause a tool, to keep the service working and affordable.
9. Subscriptions
- Studafy Plus and Studafy Max are for students. Family+ is for parents: one subscription for up to 4 linked children, or a larger one for up to 8. Moving to the larger plan upgrades the same subscription. The app shows what each one includes, and the store shows the price where you live.
- Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple or Google under their terms, renew every month until cancelled, and are cancelled or refunded through your App Store or Google Play account. We never see your card.
- Lessons, the notebook, set work, marks and attendance are free.
- If a subscription ends, the features it unlocked stop. Your notes stay yours.
10. Meetings
Studafy does not host video calls. When a teacher arranges a meeting, the invitation is sent through Google Calendar and the call takes place in Google Meet under Google's terms.
11. Availability and changes
We work to keep Studafy available and your data safe, and we take encrypted backups daily, but we do not promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change or withdraw features. Where a change to these terms materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect and, where the law requires it, ask you to accept again.
12. Ending your use
You can delete your account at any time from Account settings, or by asking us (see Delete your account); deletion can be cancelled for 14 days. A parent does this for a child account they manage. Records the school must keep stay with the school, as the app shows you before you confirm. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why unless the law or a child's safety prevents it.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that the law does not allow to be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under consumer and data-protection law. Nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts of that country.
